Incidentally, we had a similar (unpublished) study on Instagram looking at the effects of &#8220;Instagram perfect&#8221; on users&#8217; prosocial behavior (also through social comparison as the mechanism), with somewhat parallel results.<\/p>\n<p>So, I am not surprised at all by this finding:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To the company\u2019s disappointment, \u201cpeople who stopped using Facebook for a week reported lower feelings of depression, anxiety, loneliness and social comparison,\u201d internal documents said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/sustainability\/boards-policy-regulation\/meta-buried-causal-evidence-social-media-harm-us-court-filings-allege-2025-11-23\/\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not every day that causal evidence is quoted in the headlines.
